Trip to Asheville

Our trip to Asheville, NC was our favorite family trip yet! It was easy, very family friendly and had the most delicious food! Driving from Atlanta, it takes about 3 and a half hours.

During our time in Asheville, we stayed at The Grove Park Inn. This is definitely an icon in Asheville because of how long it has been there and the amount of celebrities and presidents that have stayed there as well.

It has a spa, sports center, a golf course and breathtaking views from the hotel. If you don’t stay here, I highly recommend going for a meal or drinks to just take a tour of the grounds. They also have a really great tourist and children’s store.

Asheville is known for its breweries and most of them are very kid friendly. We tried to find one that wasn’t too far from the city and had something for the children to physically do. Whistle Hop Brewery checked off all of the boxes for this. It has an actual train, mini soccer field, a slide and mini golf course! People also say Sierra Nevada is very kid friendly, it was just a little further than we wanted to drive.

Some of the places we enjoyed eating at were: The S & W Market (a food hall), Taco Temple and Pizza Mind. They were very kid friendly (aka quick service, easy seating and great food for kids). Pizza Mind was really neat because the kids can have the choice of making their pizza from scratch. You order the dough, add the toppings and then they bake it for you! White Duck Taco is also a staple, we just didn’t make it there this time!

In terms of attractions, we visited the WNC Nature Center and the Asheville Museum of Science. The Nature Center was much larger than we anticipated and I wish we had more time in the day for it! I would compare it more to a zoo than a nature center with the size of the property. I also highly recommend bringing a stroller. They have several play stops along the trail and a gem mining experience at the end! It was so neat to see so many animals we don’t usually see at our own zoo.

The Asheville Museum of Science is in the middle of downtown Asheville. It is smaller in size, but offers several hands on experiences. There is a baby area, but I think most kids 3+ would really enjoy this. They have a play area, a hands on water cycle learning experience, rock discovery station and more! The gift shop is pretty fantastic too- we may have spent a little too much time looking at all of the rocks.

We are already talking about going back this winter because this is a great city to visit any season! If you have any questions, feel free to comment below!

xoxo,

Tamar
