A Weekend at the Lake
Lake Oconee- a hidden treasure outside of Atlanta. If you live in the Atlanta area, you probably know about Lake Oconee already. If you haven’t heard of it, Lake Oconee is located halfway between Atlanta and Augusta and is a luxe lake destination. You can rent a house in the community, or you can stay at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee.
We stayed there for two nights and it was a beautiful way to end our summer! They recently upgraded the resort even more, so it’s really stunning there. They have three restaurants on property, a speakeasy, a spa, two pools and of course the lake/beach and all of the water activities that come along with that.
In addition to these amenities, the hotel has several kid-friendly options like a playground, kids club, basketball court, ping pong, cornhole, foosball, mini golf, swings scattered throughout the property and an arcade!
They also offer train rides twice a day at 11 AM and 3 PM at the front of the hotel. At night, they set up a whole sweet station starting at 7:30 PM with the main attraction being s’mores. And before that, you may even come to your room with a surprise platter of milk and cookies.
I mean the possibilities for families are endless!
I recently learned about requesting first floor lakeside and if you can, that is the perfect location at the hotel.
You are right outside the s’mores area and so close to all of the kid-friendly attractions. I think it’s best to book restaurant reservations ahead of time as well, but if you need something quick and casual, Gaby’s by the Lake is the perfect option. They actually have an INCREDIBLE kids menu that Josh and I were very impressed with.
The property also has an Italian restaurant called Amore Del Lago where they also serve a breakfast buffet in the morning. Lastly, they have an upscale steakhouse called Linger Longer Steakhouse.
Make sure to ask for the cotton candy for dessert :) There are stunning views of the golf course right outside the restaurant’s window. And if you want to venture off property, we discovered a restaurant called Table at the Lake.
It is more of a date night spot and there is no official kids menu, but they were so sweet with us and we weren’t the only family there. The girls ordered pasta and a burger and all of our food was very delicious.
Next time I go, I am definitely going to carve out some Mommy time and go to the spa! I went a few years ago and loved it! Have you been to The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee? What did you think?
